8th Grade Summary Letter

Dear Class 811 and Ms. Galang,
I’ve had a lot of memories of our time together in English class. There were some really great lessons and times we had together, and some fun activities that we did. One of my favorite overall units was the Romeo and Juliet unit. I really enjoyed reading the book, and being able to act out parts in class. There were also a lot of really fun activities that we did for Romeo and Juliet, like reenacting the party at Capulet manor, or doing little two person scenes, like when Juliet and Romeo meet for the first time. IT was also helpful, because this unit gave me a better understanding of Shakespeare’s works, and how to understand and read them. It was also a lot of fun putting on the play in the auditorium, plus it gave me an even better understanding of the play and of my role (Romeo). It was also a lot of fun though because it helped to connect with other people in the class and have some last moments with them before the year ended.
I also really enjoyed the poetry unit. I thought it was a really great way to express ourselves and learn more about other people. Plus we could practically write about whatever we wanted to, so it was nice getting a break from having to write something specific to having no boundaries. I also learned a lot about different kinds of poetry and different literary devices which I think will help me in the future when writing poetry, or just writing anything overall. I thought it was a good way to just write, and we didn’t have to worry about what people would think because we didn’t have to share it if we didn’t want to. I also liked it because it gave us the ability to write from the heart, and that was really cool.
My hopes and goals for writing and reading in English next year in high school is to help broaden my writing skills, and to learn how to understand ad read texts in a more in depth way. I think this year will definitely help me in the future, writing wise, because I learned a lot about how to write, but more importantly, to understand what I read and write, and that’s it’s not just words on a page, but a lot more than that.

                                                                             Sincerely,
                                                                                                Benjamin A. Everett-Lane
